Can I use it it on Virtual Console games like N64 games? Level 4. Joined: Aug 10, Messages: Country:. Officially it only works with Smash Bros on the Wii U. But yes, unofficially it will work with Nintendont, so you'll be able to play GC games in hacked vWii mode using an original GC controller, so at least that's something.
Unfortunately that doesn't make the controllers work with anything else in vWii mode so you'll still need a Classic Controller for VC games. However, there is another kind of adapter like this one from Mayflash, so third party that will connect a GameCube controller to a Wii remote and have the Wii recognise it as a Classic Controller.
I'm trying to work out what to buy for my Wii U so that I've got everything covered Nintendo really need to sort their controller situation out, it's ridiculous, I feel like I need to buy 10 different kinds of controller and adapter! It would even make the GameCube controller wireless, as it would be connected to the Wii U via the Wii remote's Bluetooth or, in my case, double wireless as I'd be using a Wavebird!

They might have patched it. Or it only works with VC since launching brawl would presumably overwrite any of the leftover code in the ram from smash 4.
I'm not a programmer it's just a guess. If you have the Homebrew Channel installed in Wii mode, you can use the GC adapter for GC games which you need to have images to runbut otherwise no.
I have tried this with all 3 display settings TV only, Gamepad only, and both. In all cases, the Gamecube controller was not recognized by Brawl. I only tried controller slot 1. This only works with Wii games that support the GC controller that you boot into directly from the Wii U menu.
Resident Evil 4 is the only one that comes to my mind right now. So, if anyone is willing to uninstall all their Smash 4 save files and updates in order to give this a shot, I would appreciate it.
